Volatility: Not published by Playson. Assessed as High based on session testing: 2 bonus triggers in 1,025 demo spins, with a dry stretch of 550+ spins between triggers. One session is not a statistical baseline.
1. Game Overview
Royal Coins 2 came out in September 2022, the middle child of a three-game series. More ceiling than RC1, less noise than RC3. Five fixed paylines on a 3×3 grid, and four jackpot counters running at the top of the screen from the first spin. No free spins, no scatter, no gamble — the bonus is a Hold and Win respin round.
The symbol set is classic fruit: cherries, lemons, oranges, plums, watermelons, grapes, BAR BAR, and the 777 Wild at the top. The Wild substitutes all standard symbols and pays 50× at three of a kind: the highest regular win on the paytable. Below it: Bells at 30×, BAR BAR at 20×, Watermelon and Grapes at 16×, then a cliff — Plums, Orange, and Lemon at 4×, Cherries at 1×. Most of the paytable is furniture. The Wild is the only symbol worth anything in the base game.
Paylines run left to right from the leftmost reel. All five are fixed; you can't reduce the count. Only the highest win per payline pays. The Wild does not substitute Coin symbols: those are the bonus triggers and operate by different rules.
2. Hold and Win Bonus Game
Three or more Bonus coin symbols trigger the Hold and Win Bonus Game. The Bonus coin lands on reels 1 and 3 only; reel 2 is reserved for the Royal Bonus coin, which is a different symbol entirely. When qualifying coins appear during the base game, the bonus phase opens.
At the start of the Hold and Win Bonus, you receive 3 respins. Standard symbols disappear; only Bonus and Royal Bonus coins can land during the respin phase. Every new coin that lands resets the counter back to 3. The bonus continues until no new coin lands in 3 consecutive respins, at which point the accumulated coin values are collected and paid.
Coin values are displayed directly on the symbol in currency, scaled to the current bet. The Game Info screen shows denominations at ×1, ×2, ×5, ×10, and ×15 of the bet. At 0.60 per spin, a ×15 coin is worth 9.00. You're collecting a sum of whatever locks into the 9 cells, and the respin reset keeps the bonus alive as long as new coins keep landing.
3. Royal Bonus Feature
The Royal Bonus Feature is a mechanic inside the Hold and Win Bonus Game, not a separate bonus mode. It activates when the Royal Bonus coin lands on reel 2 during the respin phase. That coin can only appear on reel 2, and only during the bonus. The regular Bonus coins, by contrast, are restricted to reels 1 and 3.
When the Royal Bonus coin lands, it triggers a collection event that gathers the values of the coins already locked on the grid. In Bonus #2 of my session (around spin 975), the Royal Bonus activated with two coins already collected at 45.60 each. The final payout was 91.20, approximately 152× the 0.60 bet. That was the sharper of the two bonus results I observed.
How frequently the Royal Bonus coin appears inside the bonus round isn't something I can quantify from one activation in two bonus events. What I can say: it's the high end of what RC2 produces in a single bonus instance. When the bonus is already running, the Royal Bonus coin on reel 2 is what upgrades it.
4. Pile of Gold
The Pile of Gold is an alternate trigger for the Hold and Win Bonus Game, active during the main game. Playson's official description for RC2 states the bonus "can also be triggered by the Pile of Gold feature during Main Game." That means two trigger paths exist: the standard coin accumulation on reels 1 and 3, and a Pile of Gold event.
I didn't catch a clean Pile of Gold trigger in my session. Both bonus events appeared to be standard coin-based: three Bonus symbols on the reels producing the entry. RC1 had one trigger path. RC2 added a second. Whether that meaningfully changes how often the bonus lands — I didn't see enough Pile of Gold events in my session to say.
If the bonus fires in your session without the three-coin pattern you'd expect, that's the Pile of Gold mechanism.
5. Four Fixed Jackpots
Royal Coins 2 has four fixed jackpots: Mini, Minor, Major, and Grand. Fixed means the values are set multiples of the current bet: they don't accumulate across players or time. The Grand is available to win at any point during a bonus round; no build-up phase is required.
At 0.60 per spin (the session bet), the jackpot panel showed:
- Grand: 600.00 (1,000× bet)
- Major: 90.00 (150× bet)
- Minor: 30.00 (50× bet)
- Mini: 15.00 (25× bet)
The 1,000× maximum win is confirmed from the in-game jackpot table in the Game Info screen. Jackpot symbols are collectible during the Hold and Win Bonus: they appear alongside standard Bonus coins and contribute to the collected total. The Grand carries a minimum bet requirement flagged in the Game Info panel — the specific threshold isn't stated in the rules screen, so check the casino version you play.
6. Buy Feature
Royal Coins 2 includes a Buy Feature. It's confirmed from the game's JavaScript bundle: the button asset, popup layout, and operator-side configuration flags are all present in the code. The feature allows direct purchase of the Hold and Win Bonus Game without waiting for a natural trigger.
The Buy Feature is operator-configurable. Casinos can enable or disable it per market or preference. It was not available in the Playson provider demo used for this review. If you don't see a Buy Feature button in your casino's version, the operator has switched it off for that platform. Buy Feature cost is set server-side and will vary by casino.
7. Autoplay and Bet Controls
Autoplay is one-click: toggle on, pick your count from eight preset options (5, 10, 25, 50, 100, 250, 500, or 999), and it runs. No configuration dialog — which means setup is fast but you lose the granular stop-on-win settings some dialog-style implementations have. A loss limit is available; there is no stop-on-win, so the session runs the full count or until the limit is hit.
Bet controls are a standard plus/minus pair with a Max Bet button. The minimum confirmed live in the demo is 0.20 per spin. A Turbo mode is available. It reduces animation time between spins. It doesn't affect outcomes or bonus mechanics, only pacing.
8. Volatility and RTP
Playson doesn't publish volatility data for Royal Coins 2, so here's mine: High, based on 1,025 demo spins. Two Hold and Win triggers in that run, with a 550+ spin cold stretch between them. The base game is flat: small symbol wins land consistently enough to drain credits slowly, but nothing in the base game shifts the balance. When a bonus triggers, it does. Bonus #1 produced approximately 153× the bet; Bonus #2 hit 152× with the Royal Bonus Feature activated. Rare high-impact triggers: that's textbook high volatility.
The paytable doesn't argue with that reading. Top regular win is 50× (Wild, three of a kind). Mini Jackpot sits at 25×. There's no way to build meaningful return through base combinations. The entire return profile concentrates in the bonus, and the bonus is rare.
On RTP: Playson doesn't publish it for Royal Coins 2. It's not in the in-game Help screen by default: the value is operator-configured and visible only when the casino enables it. Check the RTP in the specific casino where you play before committing real money. For context, publicly available figures for comparable Playson Hold and Win titles (Fire Coins, Thunder Coins, Royal Coins 1) cluster around 95.9–96.0%. That's a series reference, not a confirmed RC2 figure.
One session, two triggers. That's not a sample size — it's an introduction.
9. Demo Version
The demo is live on the Playson site behind a single age-gate click. Load it and the jackpot panel is the first thing you see — Grand at the far left, Mini at the right, all four counters already running at your current bet. All features are active: Hold and Win, Royal Bonus, Pile of Gold, four jackpots, autoplay. The Buy Feature wasn't available in this demo build; it's operator-enabled, so your casino's version may differ.
The game is Canvas/WebGL rendered (PixiJS engine), which means it runs in any modern desktop or mobile browser without a download. A dedicated mobile variant exists for portrait orientation. No registration required beyond the age confirmation click.
Free demo — no registration required. Click to load. Age verification may appear on provider site.
10. Demo Test Notes
I ran 1,025 spins in the Playson demo at a fixed bet of 0.60 per spin. The spin count is an estimate: Royal Coins 2 renders on Canvas with no DOM counter to read, so I calculated it from session time (approximately 25 spins per minute over 41 minutes).
Results:
- Starting balance: 1,000.00 credits
- Final balance: 998.20 credits (−1.80 total)
- Spins completed: 1,025 (estimated from session timing)
- Hold and Win Bonus triggers: 2
- Bonus #1 (around spin 350): +91.80, approximately 153× the 0.60 bet
- Bonus #2 (around spin 975): Royal Bonus Feature activated, two coin values of 45.60 each = +91.20, approximately 152× the bet
- Longest period without a bonus trigger: approximately 550–625 spins
- Session return: approximately 99.8% (not meaningful over this sample size)
The base game between the two triggers was flat. Credits eroded slowly through small symbol wins, then jumped sharply when each bonus landed. The 550-spin gap in the middle was a long dry run, and it felt that way from inside the session.
Test limitations. This session used demo credits, not real money. 1,025 spins is too small a sample to draw conclusions about long-term return rates, average bonus frequency, or jackpot hit probability. Spin count is estimated from timing, not a DOM counter. The Playson demo may run a different RTP configuration than live casino versions.
11. Where to Play Royal Coins 2
Royal Coins 2: Hold and Win is available at online casinos running the Playson catalog. Playson holds active MGA (RN/101/2018) and UKGC (#41337) licenses, so the game is accessible at regulated casinos across both jurisdictions.
Before playing with real money:
- Check whether the casino displays the RTP for this title. Playson enables this per operator and it isn't always visible.
- Confirm whether the Buy Feature is available in that casino's version.
- Verify the minimum and maximum bet range. The demo confirmed 0.20 as the minimum, but casinos can set their own limits.

12. Royal Coins Series: Where RC2 Fits
The Royal Coins series has three entries. RC2 sits in the middle: more than RC1, less involved than RC3.
| Game | Year | Jackpots | Trigger Paths | Key Addition |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Royal Coins: Hold and Win | 2021 | 3 (Mini, Minor, Major) | 1 | Original format |
| Royal Coins 2: Hold and Win | 2022 | 4 (+ Grand 1,000×) | 2 (+ Pile of Gold) | Grand jackpot, Royal Bonus coin |
| 3 Royal Coins: Hold and Win | 2025 | 4 | Multiple | 3 coin types, grid expansion |
RC1 if you want the cleanest version of the mechanic. RC2 if you want more jackpot range and a second trigger path without added complexity. RC3 if you want the most evolved iteration.
13. Pros and Cons
Pros
- Grand Jackpot confirmed at 1,000× bet: meaningful ceiling for a Hold and Win title in this format
- Two trigger pathways into the bonus: standard Bonus coins and the Pile of Gold
- Royal Bonus Feature creates a distinct amplification event inside the bonus round
- MGA and UKGC licensed: regulated and accessible in key markets
- Simple, focused interface with no unnecessary feature layering
Cons
- High volatility with rare bonus triggers: a 550+ spin dry run was observed in one session
- RTP not published by Playson; the base math is not visible before you play
- Maximum bet not confirmed in demo; limits bankroll planning at higher stakes
- Buy Feature is operator-configurable and not guaranteed at every casino
- No free spins, no gamble feature, no scatter: limited variety outside the Hold and Win core
- Base game is flat by design; all meaningful variance concentrates in the bonus round
14. FAQ
What is the maximum win in Royal Coins 2: Hold and Win?
The maximum win is 1,000× the bet, awarded by the Grand Jackpot. Confirmed from the in-game jackpot table in the Game Info screen. At 0.60 per spin, the Grand pays 600.00. The jackpot symbol must be collected during the Hold and Win Bonus Game.
What is the RTP of Royal Coins 2?
Playson does not publish the RTP for Royal Coins 2 on their official game page or in the in-game Help screen. The RTP is operator-configured; each casino sets its own value. For context, publicly reported figures for comparable Playson Hold and Win titles (Fire Coins, Thunder Coins, Royal Coins 1) cluster around 95.9–96.0%. That's a series reference, not a confirmed RC2 figure. Always verify the RTP in the specific casino you play before placing real-money bets.
Is there a Buy Feature in Royal Coins 2?
Yes, but it's operator-configurable. The feature is confirmed in the game's code: button assets, popup layout, and server-side configuration flags are all present. Casinos can enable or disable it per market or preference. It was not available in the Playson provider demo used for this review. If you don't see it at your casino, the operator has disabled it for that platform.
How does the Royal Bonus Feature work?
The Royal Bonus Feature activates inside the Hold and Win Bonus Game when the Royal Bonus coin lands on reel 2. It's a separate coin type from the regular Bonus coin (which lands on reels 1 and 3). When it lands, it triggers a collection event that amplifies the values of coins already locked on the grid. In my session, the Royal Bonus Feature produced a payout of 91.20 from two coin values of 45.60 each, approximately 152× the 0.60 bet.
How does the Hold and Win Bonus trigger?
Bonus coins must appear on the reels during the base game. Bonus coins land on reels 1 and 3; reel 2 is reserved for the Royal Bonus coin. There is also an alternate trigger via the Pile of Gold feature in the main game, which provides a second entry path to the bonus.
How volatile is Royal Coins 2?
High volatility, based on session observation. Playson does not publish a volatility label for this title. In 1,025 demo spins, the Hold and Win Bonus triggered twice with a gap of approximately 550 spins between the two events. The base game produces consistent small wins but rarely shifts the balance. All meaningful payouts are concentrated in the bonus round. One session of this length is not a statistical basis for a definitive trigger rate.
Is Royal Coins 2 available on mobile?
Yes. Playson has a dedicated mobile variant optimized for portrait orientation. The game is available at any mobile-compatible casino running the Playson catalog.
Does Royal Coins 2 have a Pile of Gold feature?
Yes. The Pile of Gold is an alternate bonus trigger available in the main game. The standard trigger requires Bonus symbols on the reels; the Pile of Gold provides a second path into the Hold and Win Bonus Game. The exact mechanics of the Pile of Gold event are not detailed in the in-game Help screen.
